I have a Zetor 7711. Trying to switch out the 540 pto end piece with the 1000 pto end piece. Can anyone explain how to remove the 540 pto end piece from the rear of the tractor? It has a hole through center of shaft and appears to have a hex head bolt or something in it. Im assuming this has to be removed? Witch direction, clockwise, or counter clockwise? Any help would be appreciated. Trying to try out 1000 pto. Brush hog, but cant until I get the end pieces changed over. Thanks

yesif there is a inner hex bolt inside it has the exchangeable endpiece. turn anticlockwise and put it in PTO gear when the engine is off to stop it from turning with the spanner.

Thanks!! That's helpful. One thing that's got me kinda concerned though. I talked to a technician on the phone and he warned me to be careful because when I pull that end piece off , that there is a washer on the end of the pto shaft that could fall off in the transmission. ?? I might have had him a little confused though because at times when I was referring to the end pieces , I was saying shaft instead. What do ya think? Doesn't seem like there should be that kind of a problem on something that's supposed to be interchangeable.

as far as i can tell from my experience With 7745 there is no interchangable end piece, if you want to have a 21 spline endpiece you must change the Whole Axel With one who has 21 splines, i broke off my end piece and had to change the axle, it was a full lengt axle With no changeable end piece. and what the mechanic is talking about a whasher that could fall off i dont understand, there is no such thing on a UR1 tractor. but im gessing he mixes up the two tractor series i believe he thinks you have a UR3 tractor.

This 7711 has both end pieces. The 540, (6 spline), is attached on rear of tractor. The 1000, (21 spline), is in a recessed hole in floor board under the pto speed selector lever. Each end piece has two ends. One end has the splines and the other end, which is inserted into the rear of tractor or the recess in the floor board, has a shaft with two notches in the end and a groove down the side. Which ever one is inserted in the floor has to be turned about 45 deg. and then pulled out to remove. Also the one that is inserted in the floor is actually what the lever turns to select speed. The lever is actually just a cap that fits over the end piece. If you have the 1000 pto end piece in the floor recess, it prevents you from selecting 1000 pto speed. If you have the 540 pto end piece in the floor recess, it prevents you from selecting 540 pto speed. Therefore the other end piece would be mounted on rear of tractor for use. I can remove the 1000 (21 spline) from the floor recess, but I'm trying to figure out how to remove the 540 (6 spline) from the rear of tractor. I know this cant be difficult because its made to interchange. Im just trying to figure out how to do it. Most tractors , you just pull a clip by the end piece, pull it out, flip it around , put it back in, and put clip back in place. 21 spline on one end and 6 spline on the other.

Thats exactly how my brothers 6718 is equipped.

aha i have seen this on older tractors but not on New ones like the 7711 and such, its not been delivered With this system here i Guess.

O.K. Thanks A Bunch Renze!!!! I'll try removing the hex bolt then. I guess if I keep this tractor, I'll come back to yall for help when I need it. Not many people around here that know anything about these tractors. Thanks again.

That was it!!! Not sure if I broke the bolt or not though. If I did , its a really smooth break. Or there must be a backup threaded type of plug before the bolt itself. ????? Came out in two pieces.
