I have bled the brakes a couple of times in the last 18 months of ownership and put in more than a litre of brake fluid. But i've run out again so i'm looking to get to the bottom of the problem.
Cannot see any obvious leaks from the master cylinders. I've bought new brake pipes but now it occurs to me if both are soft maybe the problem lies before the cylinders in the common supply?

Any thoughts?

I once lost brakes and clutch every few days by a crack in the feed hose between tank and master cylinders. It only spilled when you pushed it a bit aside, which only the vibrations of a running tractor engine do...

i replaced that hose quite early in my ownership last year and also haven't lost use of the clutch yet i don't think

I didnt read. Your 6718 doesnt have a hydraulic clutch, that came on the 10 series onwards.

But then your slave cylinders are the probable cause.

i did wonder!

ok so i still need to get wheels off, but instead of just pipe replacement it's a portals off job?

yes. get an engine hoist to lift these buggers from underneath the mudguards. Or a forklift.
