hey guys

when i start my 3545 this is the procedure

pull hand throttle to full
click excess fuel
jump on and push the clutch in
and press the magic button

and guess what still dont start!!!

when she winds over she pumps out masses of white diesel smoke!! is this ok? once started thers o cloud of black then she is clear!

now here is the question: is my excess fuel button wrongly adjusted?

its not rings as we stripped the engine down and all new rings and honed the bores. the valves are new and ground in. new head gaskets and valve adjustments all spot on!

if we dont click excess fuel she wont start at any price

Sounds fairly normal for a newley rebuilt motor. run it for 20 hrs and you'll probably find as evrything beds in it will be OK.

Hi Matthew

White smoke is usually unburnt diesel. The main reasons for this are lack of compression or more likely in your case timing. You must spill time it.
On the older UR1 range tractors, putting the 1.2mm head gasket on improves starting. I'm not sure if they are available for yours and this is assuming you have the 1.5mm gaskets already fitted.

she was fitted with new rings over christmas.

and i put 1.2 gaskets on her as i assumed it would mean higher compression .

today i slackened the 3 bolts which hold the pump to the engine and fiddled with that. turned it outwards and she would rev up very slowly and missfire at full revs. all the way forward towards thhe engine and thats were she was ariginally set with me. i put her half way and WOW what a difference. she fired and ran perfect. stopped her and she started at tickover. before youd be lucky if she fired hot even at flat out!! and most of the time shed rely on excess fuel even when hot.

ill give her a whirl in the morning when she is cold. and ill keep you up to date.
