Hi

The steering shock absorber is missing from my tractor(6945). Is it something that I should replace? If so, will an old car suspension shock absorber work, provided that the travel is enough?

Thanks!

I think it will not work properly in horisontal position, except if you have horisontal absorber, like from Citroen or Peugeot rear axles.
Not sure about "speed" of absorber.

Ah yes, you're right. They get air in them like that. Oh well, back to the drawing board...

Hey >:) how about a "scissors jack" type arrangement to convert the sideways movement into one that a vertically mounted shock absorber could damp? :D

Perhaps... perhaps I just leave it off, and forget about it...

Thanks

I have a shockabsorber on my 6748 but if you top up the damper reservoir under the hood fluid just leaks out onto the ground so we just forgot about it.I don't think you are missing much without one; It would be different if you had a 40k transmission though;);)
