My steering wheel has a backlash and feels a bit flabby. It is a 4340 with Danfoss orbitrol system. Anybody knows if it is possible to adjust the steering wheel dead angle. Is there a manual for the orbitrol for downloading?

Thank you
What I call the dead angle is the gap in the steering wheel before the front wheels start to move. I will check the ball joint for any gap. There is also a soft "clunck sound" coming from the orbitrol when I turn the steering wheel left right left therfore I thought it might be the orbitrol valve.
OK if the sound is specifically coming from the orbitrol, you might be on the right track. Steering balls however, are a much more likely (and less expensive) cause of sloppy steering.
Thank you

is the play and clunk with the engine running? or only with the engine off............. if the engine is not running there will be play in the orbital (or any power steering system) by design..... this play is used to activate the hydraulic control valve to turn the hydraulic cylinder (Ram, Orbital etc)
when there is hydraulic pressure present (ie engine running) you do not normally feel the play in the control valve unless it is not adjusted correctly or faulty etc.
do check all ball joints first, also check the drop arm (if you still have one on the orbital setup?)
on my 6745 most of the play was because the drop arm was loose on the steering box output shaft...... but my understanding of the orbital set up is there is no steering box at all, just a ram driven by hydraulic fluid from the orbital.
(Renze will correct me if i am wrong
The clunk noise and play is more or less the same if the engine is running or is off. I have checked the joints and they are OK. Either there is a way of adjusting the play or I have to go the expensive way buying a new orbitrol valve. Any idea where to buy it "cheap"?
Thank's for the replies. This forum is high quality!

Anybody knows where I can buy spare parts to Danfoss Orbitrol Valve in Europe or a cheap complete valve not necessarily Danfoss?
It is the central spring that is defect.
