Hey, I am looking at one of these bale choppers, And found I can get a "straw" model for approx 1000 cheaper than the "straw and silage" model:) Anyway, I was wondering Does anyone know if the "straw" model Is capable of Choping round bale silage. ??? From what i can see the only difference is An extra "shoot"

its no differnt working. i saw a demo do silage in a straw one no probs for it. the fuuny bit of the demo was the dealer was showing of a class jaguar forager and put a spanner through to show how good the metal detector was becuse the spanner was crome it went through the machine 100.000 damage;)

I thought it was:) Metal detectors are not that good unless they are connected to the electric box and "auto-stop" the forager. otherwise the metal has landed in the trailer before the alarm goes;)

A a user of a 404 for the last 10 years I would say that it definately will not feed silage. It will instantly block up. It doesn't like damp straw much either.
The rotor on a 4040 is totally different and much stronger and heavier, and the chutes are different as well. you may have have seen the one spreading straw at the Dairy Event. It was a 4040
