Thinking about buying a Zetor 6911

Hello!

I`m sorry if this have been covered in another topic. I`m looking to buy myself a tractor, which will do mostly light work, hauling firewood, remove snow in winter, etc.
I came across a 6911 from 1981 with a very low asking price, with only 2500 hours on it. (If the odometer is correct, that is)
If I have gotten this straight, main problems are clutch cylinders and water pumps? (I figure those parts are similar across the range?)
Is there anything else to look out for? What about the gearbox? The system with a lever going into the dashboard seemed weird to me, but that really don`t matter, if it works! ;)

And yes, I know that this tractor is a tad bit too big for me, but as many "hobby users" want the small tractors, like MF135, Ford 3000, etc, these are actually more expensive than those bigger.
Go figure.???

Anyway, thanks in advance for your replies!:D

Hi Trond,

In Ireland, you can get a 6911 from 1,000 to 3,000 depending on condition. What sort of price can you get?

A water pump costs about 100 and a clutch master cylinder 50.

I don't know about the clutch but don't forsee it being a big problem.

The clutch on a 6911 is operated mechanically with rods, not hydralically so no master cyl or slave to worry about!

The 6911 had no problems (they are based on the 6718 like we have) but some people say that this model, due to the changed position of the pedal, is sensitive for operators that "ride" the clutch, using it as a foot rest.

For this problem is only one solution: Proper driving habits !!! :)

Thanks for your replies!

The asking price is 12000 NOK, which is about 1700 Euro.
However, for this price it is included: A snow blade at the rear (home made, but it looked sturdy), snow chains, and a hydraulic top rod.

As for proper driving habits, I think that I can learn that....;)

OK then, sounds like I have to give the owner a call. And then bring a mate when looking on it. Always good to have an unbiased point of view, as I tend to be a bit too exited to think clearly when I`m about to buy something. 69)

our dealer told me that some complained about the 9 series clutches.. but it is the same as the 7 series clutches, nothing changed there. He knew a man who used a 6911 10.000 hours in front of a feeder wagon, continuously forward/reverse work, heavy clutch use.

If anyone knows a 6745/48, 5945 or 6945, please tell me, because i want one to use with a loader.

Thanks for all your answers, but sadly, when I called the owner on Tuesday, the tractor was sold. :sneaky:
