I have seen zetor crystals tractors pulling in the summer at our local vintage show with the standard engine they do really well. but i have a question to ask which is non zetor. you ask people what is your favourite tractor pulling machine most say fordson major. now i am in the process of doing a 6 cyl major being fitted with a cargo 0813 engine. i am putting a clutch a pressure plate from a jcb 3 with the frodson skid unit. so the clutch should withstand the abuse is there anything internally that should be changed??? the engine is running @ 3500 rpm 380hp no turbo but a turbo from a volvo fl7 is going to be fitted:cool: what do you think???

380 hp with NO turbo ?? what engine is this ???

I thought the Dorset 6.2 liter engine as used in the Cargo put out only 120 hp without turbo... When revving up and opening the fuel pump all the way it might go to 200 hp but that would be it, it simply cant get more air in that engine without extra breathing help .....
Or was there also a bigger version of the Cargo with bigger engines ?

Over here they get 550 hp from a 9600 with precision balanced and smooth ground crankshaft (smooth ground surface eliminates fatigue due to carfs on a rough surface) , extra support for the crankshaft bearings so the big end bearing cap bolts dont break, with a Holset turbo of a Scania or Volvo 9 liter truck...

There are many types of "cargo" trucks with 4 and 6 cylinder.
The Ford cargo is still in production i think??? Anyway there was a "cargo" articulated truck made in small numbers and had a bigger engine, but I dont know the hp.
I think 380hp in fordson major is a bit much, it just does not have enough weight:sneaky:

I would imagine the half shafts would be under severe pressure.
