tractor shut off

i cant get a 7245 to shut down my nephew just bought this tractor and called me to find out why the throttle lever wont stop the engine any more. when he brought it home you just moved the throttle lever down and it would shut off now you can hear something click when throttle lever is moved to stop but nothing happens is this amechanicalsut off or electric .thks haney

Hi,

It's the throttle linkage sticking. Check the return spring is on at the pump end and spray all the throttle ball joints with wd40. A lot of the older models do it and most people just put their toe under the foot throttle and lift the pedal to stop it.
