Type of battery for Zetor 8011

Hi!
It seems like my Zetor 8011 -73 needs a lot of ampere for starting.

I tried with 2* 65 Ah batteries 12 V (They are new) and it hardly moved the starter. I connected the running Car with battery. Then it started with no problem. It is no problem to start when I have enough of battery. Should it be like this? How much and what battery is normal?

/Regards, Hans

Open the starter and check bushings. Probably they are worn out, and rotor is "slipping" to the stator coil iron.

I think a my Crystal had two 120 amp batteries originally but when I got a quote they were mega money! Instead I fitted 90 amp heavy duty ones.I think they are truck batteries. They only just fit inside the boxes-I had to leave out the rubber feet that the battery sits on.I put binder twine around them aswell otherwise you won't get them out again!
Are you sure your 65's are connected properly? -ve to -ve and +ve to +ve with +ve to the starter solenoid-assuming you haven't got 24volt starting with a relay box on the cab floor under the seat.It should still manage to start OK.You just won't have much reserve capacity for cold weather starting.

We use Optima battery on the D 50... It givs a very high start amperage, and you wont notice any difference in starting power untill the battery is totally dead. Until 10% charge it allways gives full start amperage.

I believe not all 8011 are sold with 24 V starting... Our C-385 A didn't have it and we fitted it later, because it had trouble starting at -10 C

Thats right the 4 cylinder crystals are usually 12 volt starting unless produced for a special market. They put it on my UK spec 8245 though as it has all the toys on it that used to be extra on the options list.I expect cold weather market models have it aswell.
