Urgent! Zetor 12145 questions-Australia

Hi all from down under,
I am looking at buying a 12145 with low hours next week and I have some questions as I have never owned a zetor before and have only had a deutz,

What are they like pulling wise? And what is the best gear to do heavy work in? We have a 3 mtr seeder that our 70 Hp deutz will pull- just

What are the working speeds in each gear, I can't find a sticker anywhere, and I don't have a operators manual . I understand top speed for Australia was around the 30kmh mark

I noticed there is a little tank below the injection pump, is that for power steering? What sort of oil should be in there?

And are the hydraulic oil and gearbox oil in the one tank? And is it filled through the dipstick hole in the cabin and what type of oil does it take?

I also found out that the oil is filtered through a centrifuge thing, is that what is heard when the engine is turned off?

Any answers will be appreciated, I'm only new to zetor world, I just don't wanta buy the tractor and put the wrong oil in the wrong place!

If your deutz pulls 3m this 12145 will pull 2 of them. Dont know what steering tank you mean. hydraulic oil is taken from the rear end.
 
There is definitely a tank there, it's got a suction and return line, I need a few more specifics about the zetor I've got until tommorow morning to make up my mind,

Yes it is the power steering reservoir, use ATF universal in power steering
 
Go for it, you won't be sorry. Great pulling power and economical too. If you buy it I'll copy the speeds off the windscreen label on my 12045 for you. What rear tyre size does it have?
 
Thanks so much guys I appreciate it, I've brought the tractor so im a proud owner of one! It will take about 3 hours to drive home lol

The back tyres are 18.4x38s off the top of my head, not 100 % sure about the front tyres though sorry, if you could get those speeds for me that would be great!

As soon as I can get a camera near it I'll post some photos up for you! :)

Better still, I've got the 12145 pamphlet. Speeds in km/h for 23.1/18x34 rear tyres.

Thats with a full set of weights then. Early 12045 brochures listed the weight as 4850kg... That was on 16.9-38 tires.
 
That includes the Australian Gason aircon cab. My 12045 has heavy cast wheel centres. As well as front weights. The Australian tractors had different tyre sizes to suit local conditions.
 
Thanks guys that is a big help , it's got a full set of weights and a full tank of fuel so that sounds about right!

What's the torque amplifier like in them? Can you shift on the fly?
 
Torque amplifier works well. You can shift under load. Before I bought mine I did a bit of research on the net and it is considered solid, well designed and superior to a lot of other makes like the MF multipower.
The other thing is the economy. The manual says 5 to 6 litres per hour in general operation and that is good for a 7 litre diesel. With the scarifier behind it doesn't use much over 7 but I don't have any implements big enough to test it. I've got a 20 plate offset disc for the 6745 (65 hp) and the 12045 doesn't notice it. You can really cover some country with them.

 
Just on the Gason safety cab. They were made in Ararat. To test them for certification, they had a concrete block on a chain. Every cab had to be tested on the tractor it was built for. First test, they just dropped the block onto the roof from a certain height. Second test, they pulled the block back and let it swing into the side. They were testing one and the tractor axle snapped (not a Zetor ) but the government inspector still failed it and they had to do it again.
 
I'm really looking forward to getting it now! Nothin beats a torquey motor that uses no fuel !

Do you run castrol mp oil in the rear end? I'm near wagga to, I see your a fellow Aussie
 
My fuel distributor is Shell so I just use what they've got listed. You don't need any fancy oils, they just specify 80 for the transmission and 20W30 for the engine. The centrifugal oil filter is brilliant.
If you drive it home make sure it's in 2WD. The 12045 has a funny little knob almost behind the seat for 4WD.

I notice there's a hole to the left of the seat possibly where a lever goes, but nothing's there, is that the same as your rig ?
 
I'm worried about pulling the thing out of 4wd now, last thing I wanta do is drive it home and twist the front drive shafts off lol

you will wear the front tires bald first.


 
The FWD is engaged by pulling up a small knob that rises out of the floor to the left of the seat, it operates a small spool valve on the side of the 4 wd box, if the knob isnt there it may mean the cable has been damaged, so if you are sure its in 4wd then I would strongly recommend you investigate whether you can push the spool cenrtre in to get it back to 2WD. As previously mentioned you will wear tyres if you dont, but what was not mentioned is that damage can occur to the dropbox casting if used in 4WD at high speed under heavy braking.

Thanks for that mate, I noticed there is a knob thing to the back of the seat on the left hand side, I'm in southern nsw between Albury and wagga, I'm getting it Regod first thing in the morning and then bringing it home, (some 4 hours might I add)

Is there a cigarette lighter or some sort of powersource that I can plug a flashing light into?? Thanks
 
Mine has a power socket but I don't know if it's aftermarket. The 4WD knob is only small.

Its home!!! Drove like a gem all the way, worked out to be bout 30kmh in top gear, not to bad,

Next issue, how do you turn the front headlights on?
 
Well done. For lights you rotate the key. There are three positions. When the tractor is parked always pull the key up into a power off position. Also check the front hubs have oil. Checked from the outside of the rim. Large drain plug, small check plug.

I guess I'm up for a new key setup, having trouble keeping power to the dash, you have to hold it in a certain position to start and keep the gauges on, if you let go of it everything stops working
 
Just found it, should be good!

Sorry for all the questions, but what do the 4 little lights in the tachometer do? I understand greens indicators, blue is high beam, but what do the other ones do? There's a red one but unsure what its for
 
You know I don't know. Perhaps alternator warning light. The dash on mine is different to the one in my handbook . The handbrake had a light. They always go off and it's never arisen. My tractor is 1980, yours is a later model. The date is on the makers plates, one for the factory and the other for Zetor Australia.
 
Thanks mate, it's an 85 model, stock number 12145-53 so it's pretty early, I wired past the key and put a switch in for the ignition, that red light has me wondering, wouldn't think it would be a oil pressure light, I'd say charge, it has some sort of vacuum gauge what does that show?
 
If it's the air pressure gauge it's for towing trailers with air brakes. I think they're only connected if it's got an air tank.
