question Ursus c385/ 8011 binding in the drivetrain

Hi All
I have this 1983 c385 a number of years and its always had a reluctance to roll when in gear and with the clutch depressed.

The clutch is operating correctly and has an inch of free travel, the clutch brake screw is only in contact in the last bit of pedal movement.

When coming to a stop on a slight incline depressing the clutch wont allow it to roll forward but taking it out of range or gear (sometimes with difficulty) will allow it roll.

Other wise it shifts ok but I'd rather to get to the bottom of this as I dont want to cause further damage.
Any ideas??

Does it make any difference if the TA is hi or low ? the reason I ask is that the brake on the clutch pedal presses on the front of the TA pack and if set too close will affect it more if in low.

I dont think ta high or low makes a difference, will have a look again in the morning.

The clutch position doesnt seem to have any bearing on the bind, its as strong with the pedal fully depressed as just coming up to biting point

The symptoms you're experiencing sounds like the spigot bearing in the centre of the flywheel is siezing up.

May be the the gearbox input shaft bearing starting to sieze.

Spigot bearing should cause it to keep driving as the engine will still be turning the input shaft, though if you were pointing downhill and were in reverse it would give this feeling.

Only getting back to this now, that will tell how often it being worked!

The ta does have an effect, If I have it on a slight incline in low and in gear and it wont roll, shifting to high will allow it to roll.

The lever for the clutch brake is not coming into contact only on the last inch of clutch travel, is there a chance the brake is jammed on or has stuck?

Check gearbox oil pressure, you will find it is low causing the syptoms you describe. The TM is fighting with itself trying to be in low & high at the same time
