question What do the numbers on workshop manuals stand for?

Hey all.
I've been looking around at workshop manuals for zetor 9540. I've noticed that there is a number on the cover for example 1/92 and then I saw 2/99 on a nother. Can any one tell me what this means?
Also I saw one one site a service manual for zetor 9540, it was more than 300 pages, is it some thing worth owning or?

1/92 means its 1st edition from january 1992, 2/99 means second edition published february 1999
