What's a reasonable price to pay for a RUR 55 universal spreader ?
I am looking for a way to spread stable muck with less passes over the field, and to be able to mix some liquid pig slurry in the muck to spread all necessary nutrients in one go.

Some delaers in uk sell them for 1000:sneaky: so maybey they pay 700 direct from farmer??? and sell them for 1000??? anyway rotary/side spreaders are very popular in the uk you can see some here- www.rusconeng.com they can carry liquid slurry with out it dripping out;) also they throw muck very far over the side something like 20ft with fast p.t.o speed:) but they need lot of power to "start- up" because of the weight of the muck on the rotors:sneaky:

Renze,

Can't help on the price I'm afraid. In fact I had to google the RUR 55 universal spreader to find out what it is. My uncle had one of these but that was 30 years ago! I certainly have seen anything like this since then. It is all vaccum tanks here now. I can see how they would be good for drier material however.

My son got a side spreader. It was originally used on a Ferguson 20 - it matches our 35 well. He bought it for 20.

I dont want a Howard rotaspreader barrel type of machine, because spreading isnt accurate enough. I want to spread lots of farily young horse muck, not the all rotten black aged stuff. So i need something that spreads consistent and fine. I also want to spread wide to reduce the passes over the field, my current schuitemaker spreads 1,70 meter wide so thats many trips over the field, which results in muddy headlands.
Being able to blow half a vacuum tanker of pig slurry over the horse muck would enable me to apply all the necessary nutrients to the grass in one pass.

The howard ones are pice of shit;) ( they like to eat themselfs;)) I dont spread young muck because in the uk a lot of testing has been done and it is said that old muck that has been turned around in the heap with a telescopic loader has more nutrients than young muck. the barrel type will spread anything, And the spread is very consistent if you load it properly along its length;). but... the noise is sometimes too much:( it is ok for couple of tons a day but spreading millions of tons will cause a big headace:sneaky:. its difficult to find rear discharge spreaders in the uk because only zetor make them, all the other makes are massive 20 ton machines that is just too big for me:sneaky:. But back in the 1950/60s only the wooden mcormick and ferguson spreaders were available ( plus the big bamford ones for big farms ) so i guess the dutch never liked the barrel spreaders??? people like them in the uk because they dont break as much as other ones because they dont have any complicated gears and stuff;)

So, the barrel spreader will do a good job you think ??? I can get one around here, i think it will be a bargain because nobody wants one over here

It depends on what you call a "good job":sneaky: I guess If you are not 100% sure you could keep your old spreader for a wile and see wich one is best?. or... just keep both anyways and use the barrel spreader for the jobs with the slurry, and the old spreader for normal muck??? . But a zetor spreader would be good as well;) it depends on how you are feeling on the day I guess:p If you can find a barrel spreader for little money it would not hurt to try one;)
