Zeter 6340 Rear end making noise

My 6340 zetor is making a a load noise from the rear end and not the normal noise the gears make in 4 and 5 I was driving up a slight hill on black top and I heard a clunking breaking noise I stopped checked the tractorand didnt see anything After I drove it I hear a grinding noise in the rear end I jacked it up and spun all four tires but couldn't hear anything I was also in 44 when it happend and now it want come out of 44 but I am not sure if it would before this I never had it jacked up Does anyone have any ideas That same tractor gets water in the transmission when I leave it out in the rain

"A noise" is very hard to trace when you cant let us hear it...

If it wont come out of 4wd, not even when you put it in reverse and pop the clutch while pulling the lever under tension at the same time, i would take the transmission lid off and have a look inside.

Though the 4wd is in the rear of the transmission, while 4th and 5th are in the front.

What kind of front Axel is it on Your tracktor? a zetor or a carraro. i sometimes have to slam on the brakes on the go to get it out of 4wd. mine is a zetor Axel.

Sinse you had it jaked upp it should unnwind the 4x4 and it shold be easy to unncople no mater what axel you have. The most likcly colpret is the dropbox and i wold start by first pick it down.

yepp mie has a zetor Axe With full diff Lock. the Axel itself is manufactured by ZTs martin.

Interesting... The old UR2 axles were manufactured by UTB in Romania (they were used under some Fiat licensed UTB tractors too) and both UR1 and UR2 axles use the same kingpin bearings etcetera.

If ZTS had the tooling for that axle, i find it not surprising that Zetor went to Carraro at that time, when Czechoslovakia as well as Zetor and ZTS were splitting up.

The tag on our 5245 front axle i couldnt read. These light duty hubs were also used under the 6540 three cylinder UR3 prototype

Its not a ur 2 Axle. it looks just the same as the original zetor ur1 axle, but it has a full diff Lock. i believe the axle for the ur 3 9540 etc also where manufactured by ZTs.

I know, but what i meant to say was that many parts between UR2 and UR1 axles were the same. Kingpin bearings and some people say even the big UR2 hub can be mounted to a UR1 axle.
The old UR3 axle is the same as the UR1 axle, yet with center differential. These axles used a 3011 based differential, and the Detroit locker, was a sales option.



....But back to the original question, the original poster said he got water in the transmission: Water is heavier than oil so it would sit in the lowest part of the gearbox: Which is the dropbox !!!

I would take the dropbox off and inspect the bearings. Even though water also needs oxygen to form rust off steel. And that water and oil will create milky oil when mixed enough by the gears, from driving the tractor for a day.

Easiest place to start is the dropbox. and check the needle bearing on the 4wd idler gear on the high/low range secondary shaft too...
