Hi all my tacho is not working on my 1970 zetor 3511?
Any ideas
Also i noticed as i was removing the tacho drive that there was a
lever just above the tacho drive in the engine bay
The leaver looked as if it would have had a cable attached to it to pull it at some point in time.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks lads!! :) ;)

What does the half compression do?
Id love to find out about it sounds interesting
Should i have a cable going to it?

Also how can i get my tacho going.
Should i buy a new drive?
Thanks lads

usually the decompresser stops the valves closing.... makes it easier to spin the engine over.... release the lever when its turning and it fires up..... ive only come across it on small hand cranked diesels engines before.

go through the tacho drive from engine.... check the spindle the cable screws onto is turning.... then the cable itself, then the actual rev counter.

Removed the cable from the back of the tach its not turning...
Took the whole lot out and spun the bit that conects to the engine
it turns to about 2 thirds of the way up.
So the cable is obviously broken somewhere along the way
Is this repairable.
Or could you point me into where to get parts?
Also should i have some sort of lever going to that decompression lever.
As in would there have been a button or switch when the tractor was new?
Thanks lads

you could try welding the inner cable ... but normal practise is to pop to the zetor dealer and buy a new one.... its a bought in out the box part so its likely any tractor dealer may be able to match it with something. length isnt important within reason as long as the ends fit

try a bit of baler twine on the decommpression lever so you can pull it from the seat:)

What was the mechanism for the lever when it was new?
I doubt zetor had baling twine in mind when they built it ;)
