Hi All.

I'm new to this site and this is my first post. I have a 1977 5718 and for a while now I've been having problems with the lift. I think one of the problems is due to the seal in the lift cylinder needing replacement as when the lift is raised the system will jump every so often.

The bigger problem that I am having is that the lever to operate the lift keeps springing forward and the only wa yto get the lift to raise is to keep my hand on the lift when I want it raised (not that easy when I have to change gears with my right hand also) or else tie the lever back with some baling twine.

Even when the tractor is switched off it feels like there is a strong enough spring acting on the lever to push it forward. When I move the draft/position control lever for the lift, the strength of the spring seems to weaken but it is still there in all positions.

Has anyone got any ideas on what might be the cause or solution to the problem?

Regards

Hi
To stop the lever from jumping forward you have to tigten the frickshonnut on the outside end of the shaft holding the levers.
You are most lickli rigt that the seals in the ram is the corse to the lifts droping and rising.

I had the same problem on other tractors, cured by tightening the friction spring on the base of the lever. Perhaps the real problem is internal leakage of the valve, which causes a pressure difference on both ends of the control rod ?
