Hi,
Please could someone with a 5718/48 or a model with the same sump and block please measure the lenth of the engine dipstick from the bottom of the screw thread to the end of the stick.
I need to see if my one is right...???
Many Thanks
Chris

Chris,

Dipstick length is important! I had a problem once with the hydraulics on my Crystal which was down to a previous owner having "shortened" the dipstick by about 25mm and thus there not being enough hydraulic oil. It took me months to figure that out though...

Why are you concerned?

Dipstick length is important!

That's what I suspected - however reassuring the 'other half' tries to be

But seriously, if your dipstick was too short, er... wouldn't that mean that the oil level was too high??

I'm confused ???

All the best

Hi all,
It turns out my dipstick length is as it should be. My concerns came from when we went to top iit up with oil, we put a lot in and it didnt show on the dipstick and we thought there was already a lot in there and we didn't want to over fill it.
Many thanks to john, it is 95mm :)
We foud that we now had an oil leak; a new sump gasket was needed so we bought one and fitted it, so we drained out the oil in there. Now it's all ok again in that department, thank you!
Best regards
Chris
