Zetor 5945 Clutch Adjustment

Hi

Having problem with gear shifting when depressing clutch, crunching of gears taking place etc. I have a maintainance manual for the 5945 but dosen't talk about clutch adjustment very clearly. I have been told to look at the clutch plate thru the inspection slot on side of housing and see if fingers are away or touching plate. Not to sure about on this and then how and what do I do to adjust the clutch so my gears don't crunch? Any help understanding and ultimately fixing this (beyond splitting the tractor in half and replacing the clutch entirely) would be much appreciated.

Remove the inspection cover on the L/H side of the clutch housing and shine a light in to light up the centre shaft. if you are a good contortionist press the clutch pedal, if not get someone else to do it, and you will see the thrust bearing move towards the clutch. it contacts the toggle arms and which pivot and release the clutch. There should be a small clearance between the toggle arms and the thrust bearing. If they are touching all the time the end will be worn off the toggle arms and the thrust bearing will wear, but if the gap is excessive you will not be able to engage gears smoothley. Always make sure the bearing is fully back towards the gearbox, sometimes either tight bearings on the cross shaft or a sticky slave cylinder will prevent this.
Also check the layshaft brake adjustment- its referred to in the book as the small brake. A tip to engage gear quietly is to "brush" the gearstick into 4th or 5th first to stop the gears rotating with the synchromesh.
Adjustment of the toggles is by the nuts on the pivot, slacken the lock nut and adjust with the inside one. you will find it necessary to grind a 17mm spanner thinner to be able to hold the inside nut while you do up the outside one.it is ESSENTIAL that you do each arm exactly the same no. of flats. Also attach your spanners with a piece of string as if you drop one inside the housing you will have to borrow someones 6 year old child to remove it

Hello Maybe a bad master clutch cylinder That has internal leak.
That was my problem for the same problem.
