Hello
I'm not sure if this right spot for this query so if it needs to be moved please do, but i dont think it would suit in classified section, im located in Galway in Ireland, I'd like to get a 6748 or a 6945, I have a 6718 that's in reasonable shape but I do need 4wd as use tractor for bit of bog work an firewood, I'm looking for either a complete ready to go tractor or one in need of work, tractor would need to have complete working 4wd and taxbook that has matching numbers to tractor, engine, cab or tin work not that important, I'm very fond of my 6718 so prefer the 6748 as I could make very good tractor out of my 6718 and donor 6748 if needs be. Im afraid the export market has all these tractors gone as i have a wanted ad on donedeal and adverts and only got one response so far for an overpriced pile of scrap so please if you have something that might suit me no mad prices. Even if you dont have one but know where one may be could you pass on my number, please call evenings only 086 8119105. Id be hoping to find something in west of ireland but willing to travel a bit for right tractor at right price. Thanks a lot for any responses I get.

Firstly your right so many of these tractor went for export or scrap, but a 6748 would be an old tractor now and be hard to get one not done some work, there's a man near me uses a 6945 for bog work too.

But did you try Brady`s in Ballinasloe or Brogan`s in Aughrim, seen as your in Galway, and there might be a yew more places to try.

Thanks for reply, tried Brady's last sat but he didn't have anything there that suited, he took my number and said he'd let me know if he found anything but nothing back from him so far. I'm near tuam so will try brogans there and aughrim in next week or so. Is the export market taking off again? I was contacted about 2 tractors, 6748s, both very rough, they didn't suit as had no tax books but one came up on done deal and was gone in a day and other one went as quick, if the exporting is going strong again it will be near impossible pick one up I'm thinking. There's a 7245 in brogans in strokestown that looks ok and is reasonable Money but I'd really like the older type zetor as there bit rarer to see at vintage shows and I'd like to have my tractor for the bits of work I need and maybe a vintage rally now and again. Thanks for any info I get.

Ya I saw the 6748 on DD, I wouldn`t say the export market is more buoyant than it was, it just always there and it an alternative for banger tractors, and what your looking for is either gone or scrapped or the vintage people have them and don't sell them. with only a handful now left on farms, so it might take a while to find one, especially if you don`t want to buy a newer series.

There's a garage in Mayo Tractors Ads For Sale in Ireland | DoneDeal - https://www.donedeal.ie/tractors-for-sale/zetor-7211/17779456 I see have a selection or try Brogans in Cloghan he has a collection of vintage Zetors, there a garage near me always was great for old Zetors, or sometimes ones come in the auction in Portlaoise

You could also try a scrap yard if you willing build one from parts. Maybe this yard might have something.

I saw a 6748 the other it is all complete but needs a full rebuild, they are selling it at the moment

It wont be advertised on done deal

You need to stick with the 6945 rear end, or dismantle both and change the pinion shaft, and the 4wd idler gear running on the hi/lo range layshaft. Pinion shaft, hi/lo layshaft are different and it doesnt have the idler gear fitted.

The 3045 didnt have an idler gear but acted on the range gear, thats why it only had 4wd in high range.

Thanks for the replies so far, diy where did you see the 6748 for sale or can you send me contact details for it as I'm still having no luck finding one. It sounds like kinda yoke I'm after if all the bits are there I'd definitely make a good tractor from it and my own 6718, thanks again for all the help .

I saw the tractor in the yard, it doesn`t look great but seem to be standing on all 4 wheels complete, I say you have to do a good bit of work but all 4 wheel drive bits were there.

I saw it last Thursday, they had taken 2 Zetors in for exporting so you would want look at it soon. It is in a yard near Rathdowney county Laois.

Whose yard was that ? William Shirley ? he gathers up a good few tractors for export.

I might know of a 5945 . The owner bought a 6340 about 2 years ago straight out, and still had the other up to 6-12 months ago. He isnt a farmer, a bit like the OP. A bit of turf , odd tractor run, moving odd things around in his welding business.

there was a few Zetors on done deal lately for parts, if you have a good tractor to use as a donor at least you would have the four wheel parts.

Hello again
I called about the 6748 but he had deal already done with the exporter and it was gonna cost too much to buy it from the exporter and get it delivered down to Galway all in it would have cost nearly 3 grand and it wasn't running and had damaged axle mount fitting so was afraid to take the chance on it then.
I'd def be interested in the 5945, I have ad on done deal looking for tractor by chance did u call over weekend answering that ad? I got call on Saturday about one and guy said he would send on pictures Monday but nothing arrived and I txt yesterday but no answer back to that too. If you can send me on details about that 5945 It would be great as these old 4wd zetor are very few on the ground, I've wanted ad on done deal since Christmas and very little calls from it, if you don't want to post details here can you please txt me details on 0868119105 thanks again to all who have responded to me.

I rang thAt man with the 5945.he isn't interested in selling it. . He said he put 4 new tyres , reconditioned the engine and had to put a sh front axle in it . So he thinks is he would lose a good bit of money if he were to sell it.

If you ring the number ask him about what your looking for, he was always good at having old Zetor parts in the past, I got lots of stuff in the past and he could have something in his massive graveyard.

Did you get any good from this man?

I used to go to Rita in Tobins an odd time for parts. A n enclopedia of knowledge on Zetor parts. Haven't been for several years now. I am quite friendly with Tom Poole so go there usually.
Donkey buys A bit of stuff at auctions. Usually the lower end of the market , or for breaking. I sold him an old Class Wm 20 drum mower for 100 notes. Dropped it to him while en route to collect parts from Rita. Hadn't time to look around that day . Pity . As I love rooting through that sort of stuff. More than new machines.

What are your Forterras ? I have a 06 10641 nearly 2 yrs. Love it.
Whose yard near Rathdowney did you mean ?

FIRST it`s Maura is the fountain of knowledge in Tobins,

I see Donnie at the auctions in Portlaoise too, I did a good bit of business over the years with him for parts and stuff ,he has a great maize of machinery.
I lived in Clonaslee awhile and went to Poole's Zetor garage in Rosenallis, long gone now. It was Shirley's yard I saw the old tractors in, near Manor stone.

I had a fair handful of Zetors over the years, had a 08 10641 from new but now I have a new HSX 140.

Have you been in all the machinery graveyards in Ballingarry so too? even the one on the hill?

I knew one was Rita and the other Maura. I don't know what Jamas wife in the office is called.
I occasionally go to that auction , but won't go this Saturday as busy with cows calving.
Tom Poole would be the old man's nephew aged 56 ish.he has been a Zetor dealer in his own right for 25 plus years . He sold a few Kubotas a few years ago. He and a couple of other Zetor men are involved in importing Ursus tractors.
William and I are friends for at least 25 years , and I actually bought the 10641 from.him. I also have an 89 12145 with Duncan cab and a 92 reg 8145 with the ordinary cab. I sold a purple 1975 Ursus 385 after I bought the 106.

I was through Rosenallis going to the ploughing last year, I see Poole's garage in the town closed and looks very shook now, your timing would be right 1990 I lived in Clonaslee. I had a 89 12145 with a Duncan cab here myself too. it was a great beast with the 40km box only fun to stop pulling a big silage trailer. I had a 8145 too with keltec cab.
