Hi,

I recently bought a Zetor 8111 (Duncan Cab). I noticed the hydraulic pump on the left hand side of the tractor getting very hot at idle. It would burn you if you touched it. I then installed a new pump but the new pump is getting hot too.
Can anyone advise of what may be the problem? Thanks in advance, Jimmy.

Make sure your external services lever is in the neutral position.
It sounds as though it is constantly pumping against max pressure

Thanks for replying. It turned out the draft control leaver towards the right of the seat in the cab was ceased on constant pump and when i managed to released it the pump stopped heating.

There doesn't seem to be an external control leaver though. Where can I find it?

Also the ventilation cover that should be placed over the hydraulic pump housing was not there when i bought the tractor, do you know if this is needed?

Thanks again for your help , much appreciated

The cover is not needed, but it has the lever to put the pump out of gear on it so the pump will always be running, but I have to say I don't know of anyone who actually ever puts the pump out of gear. I suppose a large arable enterprise with only pulled equipment might.
The inside lever on the quadrant is the lever that operates external services. draft control is the outer lever with the select lever on draft. Look at the sticky thread at the top of the tractor forum to see what the levers do.It not very clear. The 8011 has a select lever with a metal top that is : right back: position, next foreward : mixed draft and position, foreward: draft. some are labelled pressure control when right foreward, but few UK models have this facility.
Hope this helps

Thanks a mil Dave, thats a great help !

i'm looking forward to getting the 8111 going! Will be wrapping and drawing silage with her this summer.
