hi all, i notice the right hand brake sticking on my 8145, i moved back the adjuster on the back axle but still couldn't move wheel freely , then i split the right hand brake down the discs were stuck on the shaft, the discs were in very good condition 13mm tick so no wear on them, the expander had all the springs and seamed in good condition. so i cleaned up the rust on all parts and put a new seal in and refitted the axle, when i was tightening the 13 bolts on the axle i couldnt turn the half shaft, it locked up it seamed worse than before.
What could be wrong? the brakes were done about 7 years ago, i didn't do them myself that time, it has done very little work sense they were done, it was parked up for about 4 year.
The brake cylinders are new and i freed up all the pins going to the brakes. so the problems seams to be on the inside.

i striped it back down today again, i noticed the splines on the the inside disc got damaged, it must not have lined up when i put it back together.
going to get new discs tomorrow and a seal
is there anyway stopping this happening again?

Hi,

You can assemble the brakes and shaft onto the trumpet before you fit it to the tractor.

Mike
do you mean that you can put the first disc on the shaft and then put the expander on followed by the second disc then fit it to the tractor?

Hi

Sorry, confused you a bit. You can only fit one disc on the shaft thinking about it. The expander and 2nd disc has to go on the tractor side.

Mike
Ya i was thinking that, im going to try to adjust up the expander a bit so that the inner disc is tight, its just a idea that might work. i think the old disc could have being bent a bit as i had to force them off the shaft.
Im going to go back at it tomorrow, will let you know how you get on, thanks for your help .
