We have a zts 8145 since 2006, its a 1992 with low hours (around 3100) it only had light work with a council before we bought it. In the time we had it we have had to do the head gasket twice and a new radiator, I was wondering is this the end of my problems or will other tings go wrong too. its service twice a year, the jobs its does are light like feeding cattle with a front loader and topping it might sometimes do some cultivations. another problem too sorry since the head gasket was done the 1st time it has been 'lacking power' and we have to run it at a higher rpm than before

Why the head gasket and new radiator i wonder ? Was it overheated ? your valves may be pitted because of overheating. Had that on the 5245 which is running fine now. Payd 150 euro to have a machine shop regrind the valves and skim the heads, did the wrenching myself.

These tractors are not noted for head gasket problems. If it goes again, carefully check the head for level and minor corrosion with a steel rule. We usually had the heads skimmed when we had to remove them if they wern't perfect. there is enough valve clearance not to worry about piston clearance. Its also a good idea to re-torque the head bolts after a few hours. The other thing to check is that all the liners are level with the block and that they are all the same height above the block. again measured with a steel rule and a feeler guage. We have had a poorly machined liner causing trouble.

Hi

Just thinking about the lack of power - There are 2 thicknesses of head gasket available. If you had a thin one (1.2) fitted originally and you are fitting the thicker ones (1.5) it could cause power loss.

No, head gasket thickness has to do with clearance of the piston in TDC to upper face of block.
