Hi Everyone,

I am a new member obviously owning an 8011. Am based in Austalia.

Been a good tractor, I have had it for about 13 years. It has a BIG hydraulic dozer blade on the front.

I recently (12mths) had the motor rebuilt after allowing water to get down the exhaust and seize one piston. - BAAAAD thing to do and now have a $5 flap on top of the exhaust.

I need a little information. My hydraulics have been leaking and I need to top up the oil. Thought I might change the oil in the diff etc while I am it.

How much Oil does the Diff and hydraulic system take?

I also have an annoying problem with the hydraulics as they sometimes stick and refuse to operate when cold. Anyone got any ideas on that?

Thanks

Wayne

It takes a lot of oil - I think it is something like 12 or 16 imperial gallons. I look it up in my manual later and give you the exact figure.

Re "..hydraulics as they sometimes stick and refuse to operate when cold".
My hydrauilics sometimes airlock. This might be your problem. BTW what temp is cold for you? I don't know why it happens. It's driving me nuts. To cure, I stand behind the tractor and undo the banjo nut for the hydraulic feed from the pump at the point it goes into the back axle. Why there? Because it is easy to get at that's all.

Re: Hyd airlock
Sorry to be bearer of bad news fellas, It means your main hyd pump is worn. Its easy to change though, can be done in an hour through the left clutch housing inspection cover and the pumps are not too expensive either. It would be a good idea to wash the filter though and see if its any better then. I have an 8045 that will do that if its left facing uphill when its hot if its left overnight, usually if you turn it round and face it down a fair slope it will re prime though.

Re last post
I should have said wash the main gauze filter. the other canister type only filters oil that returns from the TA pump.

I hear what you are saying BUT I can't understand it.
When my hydraulics are working, they will lift a 2m wide transport box of heavy material e.g stone or sand. To my mind this means the output from the pump must be OK. Make sense?

I would have thought that if the pump was worn it would not be able to lift such a heavy load. Am I correct?

Now if the wear means somehow that the pump is sucking air on its inlet side that would make sense.

Ref your 8045, I'm still confused as to what is making it airlock.

Hi i have a 8011 too and the same thing happens , i think its low oil level, when facing uphill the oil is further from the pump and lower as far as the pump is concerned. I just undo the joint above where the pump is a turn and you can see the air come out, it may be a worn pump but like you say when its going it will lift anything .

We had a 12045 with the same air locking problem the problem can be overcome by adding an extra 10 litres of gearbox oil over & above the top mark on the dipstick

Thanks for the advice.

I was wondering if anyone has a Workshop Manual for an 8011..?

Be great to get a scan of one if there is one out there as I am interested in how the Hydraulics work and what filters and valves are servicable.

Thanks

Wayne

I'm afraid the workshop manual has 17 pages devoted to the hyd system.
I suggest you order a manual from one of the internet sites.
I don't know of an online version.
