hi zetor kings , i have a 79' crystal 8011 and i think its a great tractor , only problem is i am using it for vintage tractor runs at the moment and it is unbelievably slow on the road , top gear high torque and flat out she only does 15mph ( 20kph) , i have spoken to a few " guru's " who maintain the 8111 came with a 40kph gearbox and that if i got my hands on one it would be a straight swap . is this the case ???

the " guru's " also say that there was an ursus model with a 50kph gearbox , ( i think it was a turbo charged version of the 8011 but in ursus guise ) !!! not sure of the model no.

The 8011 originally had a 25kmh transmission on 18.4R34 or 16.9R38 tires. Yours probably has the tires too small or doesnt get past 2000rpm.

The 8111 indeed had an optional 40kmh transmission with overdrive, but the 53/55kmh version was never a factory version:

In fact the 20.8R38 rear tires that were required to get to 55kmh could only be fitted under the cab of the 8211-16245

What e.g. the Dutch importer did with the Ursus 214 (1424 in the rest of europe) still owned by a farmer in this area, was to order the tractor with the crown and pinion of a 4 cylinder 40kmh transmission (which got 40kmh on 18.4R34) and stuff the biggest 20.8R38 tires under it, which were normally sold with a different rear axle reduction. That got it to 55kmh.

Im not sure if an 8111 overdrive gearbox is a straight swap, because somewhere in its life some M14 bolts between rear end and tranny were changed to M16. But naybe its just a matter of a washer or bush.

I did that exact job, took a gearbox from 9111 with 40kph box and put it into my 8045,then sold the 25kph box. the 8045 was a great job then.
