Hello, I recently purchased an beaten up Zetor 8011 which runs well. It had a very little leak of coolant from the bottom cover coolant gasket (sump gasket?). I tried to tighten the bolts, I have broken two of them and now it leaks even more. I am thinking I need to change the gasket and use new bolts. Can anyone please tell me if it is something I can do it myself? I'm not a mechanic, but can open/tight bolts!! When I go to purchase gaskets, all I can find is "Gasket set, Lower". Is it the right gasket? Here is the link of the gasket I am going to buy from.

Thanks in advance!

The sump or the bottom of the engine keeps engine oil. If there is coolant coming from the sump the oil in the engine contains water and should be milky colored. What dose the oil on the oil-stick looks like. Are you sure the water is coming from the sump gasket or might leaking from a higher position as from the water pump and flowing down. If water is coming from inside the oil sump you have a serious problem. It is relatively easy to replace the sump gasket.

hi yes there should be water down there, it helps to keep the sump oil cool . theres a m12, 17mm head bolt that will drain water out think its on right side . not on bottom on side .. your have to take that plate of and hope you can get studs out . you should be able to hammer out a gssket out of a bit of gasket paper.. .. say it got a bit of frost and thats way it leaking now.. the newer crystals had a oil cooler up higher on the outside.. . hope this helps a bit

Thanks for the replies!
The oil is not milky and seems to be Ok!
Yes, there is a head bolt right on the side (a few millimeter from the bottom!) to drain the coolant out . Also the heater hot water hose is fed from the same place, therefore it should be a small coolant storage/circulation in there. I think only Zetor 8011 has this odd feature! I talked to a supplier today, they are gonna send me a lower gasket set! I will keep you posted if I find anything interesting wish me luck!!!! Thanks

Interesting, I thought it was just model 12011/12045 that has an engine oil coling system. It might vary from country to country? Sorry If I gave missleading information.

i have seen some with the water sump bypassed join the inlet pipe and outlet pipe together.. say would be ok if tractor was not doing any hard work ,, but i would not take the risk

On the sump the lowest drain plug is for water.
Drain the entire system through it and take off the hoses that are front and back on the right hand side of the sump, then undo the ring of bolts that are around the base of the sump, NOT the ones that hold the sump to the block, and the aluminium heat exchanger will then drop down and you can make a gasket to fit. It would be a good idea to try and replace the broken bolts, if you cant then use a silicon sealer on the gasket that also is a glue, when assembling, beaing in mind the system is pressurised

Thanks, Dave.
I am gonna remove the heater by disconnecting the hoses since I wont be using the Tractor in winters. Once I received the gasket, I will try to change it too. Now I learned that if I need to tighten any bolts in the engine block/cylinder/manifold of an old tractor like mine, I will open/remove them first and use new bolts!!

Disconnect the heater hoses by all means, but dont bypass the sump cooler, It warms the oil quicker in the cold as well as cooling the oil in hot weather
