What you say is correct: 15w/40 motor oil and either 80w/90 gear oil, or 10w/30 universal tractor oil.
80w/90 gear oil and 10w/30 universal tractor oil are of the same viscosity, but both are measured at a different oil temperature, hence the difference in number.
