I think in Canada at Lake Ontario harbour grain terminal, they also shunted the railway cars with tractors, 20 years ago. Trucks with bottom dump trailers drove over a pit, from which it was moved into ships or railway cars. When enough filled railcars were connected, a big Electromotive Diesel loc would move the train up to speed throughout the country.
