wondering if it is a common problem with transmission problems in these tractors, so a low houred one, 1100 hours advertized with trannsmision trouble. located in usa. how is parts availableity and price for these parts, dont know what is needed.

12/6 gearbox or 16/8 gearbox? 12/6 should not have any problems if there has been right oil fills... 16/8 it is the bearings. Those are not expensive, but there is quite a job

Markku,

I thought that all the Zetor/ZTS 160HP tractors had first gear removed as the gearbox could not cope with the torque generated??.....or am I con-fussed as usual

Tom, teh old ones had 12/6 box with no 1st gear

The 162 had an overdrive instead of the first gear, making 40 km/h also with 16/8

the problem with the tractor is that it wont shift out of low. It is a 12 speed trannsmisiion. Can this machine be converted to 50kmp machine? whats wrong with the trannmsiion now.

There is red light on the dashboard. Is it glowing when you shift it to high ratio? Or is it glowing all the time?

Try this: run engine about 800 to 700 revs. Turn pto, 4 wd, front differential lock (if hydraulic opereated) and multipower to high ratio. All at the same time! There should FLASH red light on the warning light terminal. This is ok.

If it wont flash there is something in the light (maybe someone has taken pulp of to hide something....)

Run engine about 1600 revs and turn powershift to high ratio. Light should not flash now!

If there is nothing, check the mechanical levers and shafts etch. Only for sure......

Then there is only 2 possible problems... powershift operating hydraulics or adjustment of the powershift. Then just call the service man who is qualificated for ur 2 Zetors.................

ps. the preussure of low preussure hydraulics is 12bar in 1000 engine revs. You can measure this.

A 12 speed can be converted to 50 km/h but it needs LOTS of work as all gears have to change place.

It's easiest to modify a 16 speed 40 km/h because then the main gears can stay in place, only the gears inbetween trans and diff have to be changed. (near the place where the 4wd shaft comes out of the trans ???)
