Though Zetor has only a small booth compared to e.g. Ursus, which showed its entire fleet, (and the overwhelming presence of a handfull of Chinese tractor makers) Zetor did have some interesting things:
The design concept to me, wasnt big news. Cab windows were darkened and a plastic front weight means that its really a shell, not an actual production model.
Really, i wasnt impressed. Same and Deutz tractors are designed by Giugiaro, another Italian competitor of Pininfarina, but its an identical style. If Zetor didnt paint the rims red instead of gray, it would be mistaken for a Same production model... It wasnt too late to undo a strategical blunder:
After taking the Zetor import away from Slootsmid after warranty disputes, and giving it to Pols, a big organisation in greenkeeping and recycling machinery that had little experience in the Agricultural market, Pols saw their sales expectations not being met and gave their mission back to Zetor. Meanwhile the parts warehouse of Slootsmid Trading is put under the new company Zetrac, with the experience of 40 years of Slootsmid people.
This company will now be independent from Slootsmid and offer Zetor dealers technical and commercial assistance whilst coordinating the import.
Lets hope they handle this business as succesful as Zetor UK does on the British isle :)...

Did you guys see them ?? Personally i like the 2nd one (the wedding) its kind of cool. The other two portrait Zetor owners as total schmucks that value their tractor higher than family life... It seems quite the opposite of the brand image Zetor is trying to set (the clever choice for the family farmer) where the 2nd video hits the nail on the head: Young farmers that have no sentiment with Zetor in its heighdays (70s/80s) must find it cool again, to show off to their neighbours with a Zetor.

Scroll down to page 35. IMI is a subsidiary of Norgren, the company that also supplies controllers for the Proxima Power transmission from 2008 onwards, and also the HSX, HD and Crystal.
It appears to be a 2nd prototype, as the first functional prototype had four DSG range shifts behind the standard 3speed powershift module, which was a design with inline top shafts. This one has three gear shift forks, which appear to be offset, which may indicate that this is a design with two parallel topshafts, similar to John Deeres Direct Drive.

Pols Zuidland, Zetor importer and an active player in the landscape and park machinery market, has given their mission order back to Zetor. They had different expectations when they started this endeavour only a few years ago. Part of the problem is the upscaling of dealerships where large players demand exclusivity from their dealers, so naturally Zetor with only a 150hp 4 cylinder on offer, will see its dealership being discontinued. During the two years of Pols, only 40 new Zetors have been sold.
Though Pols more or less blames the market situation and the dealers, the silent majority of dealers complain that Pols comes from a totally different market, and is not able to give dealers the technical assistance they need, both in sales...

Thats good news, since the median of todays European tractor market is 150hp, these six cylinder additions to the Zetor product portfolio are very welcome.
Customers have been asking for 170hp six pots ever since 2009 when the Maxterra prototypes gained international attention, but now, customers dont have to look any further for a tractor to meet the needs of todays farms, that still keep growing in size.

So what Mr. Kolhammer is explaining is that they continue to build Zetor 4 cylinder engines, yet install an SCR system and an active soot filter, to achieve TIER 4 Final emissions.
Clearly, because of the parallel introduction of their own TIER 4 Final 4 cylinder engine, this means that this cooperation with Deutz does NOT mean the end of the Zetor 4 cylinder engine, unlike some newspapers write. (!?!)

Zetor will deliver Alo front loaders as Zetor system front loaders, instead of Trac-lift (Humpolec) which has been connected with Zetor ever since the 70's.
The Trac-lift models range from 50 to 120hp tractor classes, so i suppose for an upcoming Forterra HD or Maxterra large frame tractors with increased tractor weight, the Trac-lift 320 and 360 models are too lightly built... But the deal might as well have an economical or marketingtechnical reason...
Trac-lift once worked on a 420 model but it disappeared as quickly from their website as it came...

They have used the Major styling on the Proxima... guess what i think ? I think it looks better than the old Proxima AND the Major !
Even after they changed the Major hood with that diving goggle- look to a headlight unit that resembled the Proxima, it still has a beauty flaw: it combines large planes, with some very crowded and detailed edges around the outer contour. Yet now on the Proxima, they added three bars of mesh to the top of the hood, and the extra lights built into the planes above the main headlights, identical to the previous Proxima. Somehow that puts balance to the entire design, and i think it looks just good !!
I just get the feeling that the time lapse of designing, was...
Gary Bogart, chief of Zetor NA says that they are revitalising their operations, wanting to expand their dealer network from 100 to 250 dealers in 4 years. He also says that the biggest numbers in the USA are sold sub 70hp and plus 180hp, so with the Major they make good chances of getting their momentum going again..

They have contracts to supply the DPF for TIER 4 final as well. That would probably mean in 2014 they add a new exhaust pipe with integrated AdBlue kat behind the DPF.
In the 100-175hp class they must reduce from 3.3 to 0.4g/kwh Nox so they can probably do this with just adding SCR and not wasting the engine responsiveness with more EGR... John Deere in the +175hp class (NoX emission in TIER 3B of 2gr/kwh, so quite lower than the 100-175hp class in which Zetor is operating) needs two turbos (a fixed plus a VGT which keeps getting stuck from EGR soot)...
All righty, i've just compared the instruction manual side by side, of the HSX 2012 model and the new 2013 model from the link by ZetorfanPL:
new features:
- four PTO speeds: a lever for standard/eco is added along with the existing 540/1000 flipswitch: This replaces the ground speed PTO
- (dis)engagement of the PTO whenever the 3pt is operated (headland automation)
- new heating and airconditioning unit: its mounted at the back instead of at the front, so view on traffic lights or a front loader is much better:
- a glass roofhatch with rollshade
- wheelbase is indeed increased to 2590mm, NOT by stretching the chassis but by moving the front axle 100mm forward: overall length is not increased, so with heavy front ballast the balance...
Zetor announced an hour ago on Facebook, that they will introduce a Major 80 on the Agro Show Bednary (Poland)
No details known yet, though i expect it to be basic Antar models for the 3rd world market, just with a TIER 3B engine as mandatory in the US and Europe. Or perhaps a new name for the basic Proxima models, to set them apart from the Plus and Power versions.
However there were rumors that it would have a Carraro rear end fitted... ???

I didnt catch the latest news (have my job) but they really gave it the finishing touch !!
People kept complaining about the cheapish external hydraulics controls as if it was a pimple on a hot blonde... Its the first thing you notice when you hop into the cab: Its not finished.
With the new MITA hydraulics (the old Zetormatic is gone, replaced by a system with external lift rams and less slack on the top link mount) the controls in the cab are integrated very nicely, now its really FINISHED...
