Here are a few tips on the FIN / VIN, the vehicle identification number (also serial number or chassis number) and the MIN, the engine identification Number (also engine number) and where you can find it on the respective Zetor models.

So where can you find this number, which is so important for registration, on the Zetor chassis or engine?

Zetor 15, Zetor 25

The multi-digit (usually 5-digit) chassis number (FIN) can be found at the rear right below the trailer towing device.

In addition, the following numbers indicate the real year of production, which may differ here and there from the date of "first registration", as some Zetors were also in stockpile for a while - especially for western export.

Since around 1990, every manual /operating instructions for the Zetor has included the location(s) where these numbers can be found. So here are just 2 examples.

If you know of other places for the VIN, please contact me and I will add them to these instructions and if you have photographed a VIN with the corresponding year of manufacture, then our VIN list will be happy with it. :)(y)

Transmission casting dates are ALWAYS 6 months before the production date of the tractor, because castings have to weather before you can use them: When at school we had an excursion to Wärtsilä Diesel (former Stork-Werkspoor Diesel) they had 2 meter high crankshafts for ship diesels laying outside in rain and sun, to weather for TWO years, so that casting tensions would settle in the steel before they could machine it to tight tolerances.

With smaller workpieces the ageing time is less, Zetor lets the transmissions weather for six months.

Yes but, it helps to find the production year. :)

In case of my Zetor 5011 - gearbox casting date says 14.03.1984 and initial registration was middle of june 1984.

I have certain papers from "Zetor informations" with some hints how to find on some parts more informations about production dates.
If you have nothing others - the you only can take a look on what you have. ;)
