news some old rumors

Hannes Drechsler,

chief of Zetor Trade, said in an interview with Profi 2/2005, that Zetor will introduce their orchard and vineyard tractors of 50-80 hp, a heavy duty compact of 45 hp and a 3 cylinder Proxima of 55 hp.
I think that 3 cylinder proxima is old news , as Zetor withdrew the 5441 from actual production, while it was mentioned on early sales literature.
He also mentioned a heavy range of 140-180 hp so the original intentions of 155 and 170 hp have moved, upward as well as downward in HP range.

With the new 16 speed Proxima gearbox, which is split in two compartments, Zetor made it easy to build the compacts on the basic gearbox and rear end of the standard farm tractors, they can just design a shorter first compartment, to get a shorter wheelbase for a heavy duty compact.

There is still very little known about the Maxterra range, but Zetor does mention a 24 speed gearbox with 4 speed powershift and powershuttle, and 40 speeds if the optional crawl gears are fitted. That sounds very similar to the ZF transmission in the Deutz, Steyr and Fendt 90-200 hp tractors.
Fendt used to assemble the Zf transmissions for their 500 series in tehir own plant, while the parts that were only fitted in the Fendt version of the ZF transmission, were also manufactured and machined in the Fendt plant.
Zetor might also want to take this route, this allows them to build on a reliable base, while keeping their own hand in it to deal with the weaknesses of this ZF box: The early versions were known to break apart due to the rough shifting of the powershift gears. ...Zetor's own pneumatic shifting system operates smooth and would be a distinctive gadget to differentiate itself from competitiors.
Off course, Zetor mechanically governed Euro3 engines are also a unique feature in the current tractor market, and the reliability and ability to accept less quality fuels like rape seed oil, is an advantage in many areas in the world.

Has anyone have some NEW details ??

something in german press about "Forterra Power" series to come out in 2007. 11841 and 13841 6 cylinder tractors.

Yes that's correct. The styling will look exactly like the Proxima, which is good i think.

Renze, We were told that all the tractor below the 8441 would have the turbocharged 3 cylinder, and the 8441 would remain with the 4 cylinder. And the new "E" models would go down to 55 HP, have some syncros taken out of the transmission, no tilting steering colum, and so on, and that is supposed to happen next year. We have heard nothing about a 45 HP, and absolutley nothing about the Orhard/Vinyard.

i was thinking... now even Same is announcing its home built CVT for launch next year, wouldnt Zetor just be going the CVT route ?

Developing a CVT is a lot cheaper than developing a powershift transmission, all you need is a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor, which both are bought in from a major supplier where everybody else (Fendt, ZF, JD, Same) buys their oil pumps. With the pump, you buy the knowledge, so building a CVT would be easy as a backyard holiday job... There are enough companies who can supply an electronic controller unit, and without the headland management systems (which dont fit into Zetor philosophy anyways) it doesnt even have to be electronically controlled.

Its better to be old good powershift than new cvt

We need tractor, here north, that can be used when -30 degrees (C) cold or even more. You just can start up cvt tractor in that cold, its gearbox must be heated before cold start or it must be kept in warm shed when not used.

And i dont know how much real benefits cvt really gives for you... But it is sure that its not more expensive to develope than totally new powershift..

CVT does give benefits for PTO work... For cultivating, it doesnt add anything, especially with the new generation of Zetor engines with 43% torque backup, as they pull hard at any engine speed.
