news Zetor Poland announces 170hp 6c

Thats good news , since the median of todays European tractor market is 150hp, these six cylinder additions to the Zetor product portfolio are very welcome.

Customers have been asking for 170hp six pots ever since 2009 when the Maxterra prototypes gained international attention, but now, customers dont have to look any further for a tractor to meet the needs of todays farms, that still keep growing in size.

Off course this tractor will have the Deutz TCD6.1 engine as Zetor announced earlier, but further details are not known yet.

Zetor UK announces it in the 2nd half of 2015 including the resurrection of the Crystal name...

http://www.farmersguardian.com/home/machinery/machinery-news /deutz-power-for-new-larger-zetors/69930.article

Even though the original trademark expired in 1998 (after 30 years) A quick look in the international trademark database learns that they have re-registered the trademarks Zetor Crystal and Zetor Super last year.

This was odd. my friend who Works at local dealer that has just been to the factory on a service course, had beeb informed that the maxterra range never will be launched, at least not the ones like the prototypes we have seen.

Off course, those prototypes are zetor engine and zf gearbox. They have chosen to use deutz six cylinder engines instead.

What will be really built is not fully defined yet, but apparently the six pot till 165hp will be callled Crystal.

Given the Deutz decision, it is more likely that they will build their own transmission before introducing their own six cylinder engine.

In 2009 there was rumor of a six cylinder range below the Maxterra, just like the NH T6 small frame six cylinders below the large frame T7.

Was wondering did anybody watch the Ztr HD ad on ZTR uk facebook page looks nice traveling along the road to a river to load up with water to deliver to a sprayer just like a browser tanker. I was wondering how did they get water in to the tanker when they had forgotten to fit the PTO driveshaft

The prototype has been photographed in vincinity of the factory. Name is taped off with black tape. Shit just got real !! :D

Only thing i would do to the design, is make the red stripe between upper grille and front grille (above the headlights) a little wider, so it breaks the lines a bit nicer. Or perhaps they should just make another headlight production mold, for a shape that follows the new, more vertical position of the front grille a little better.

Most important is that the cab must be risen 10 to 15cm for the driver to be able to look over this tall hood...

for the rest, it follows the current trend of more agressive styling, and a steeper front grille. Needs some refinement, but not bad for a prototype !

DAMN !! this looks good. Classy !! It certainly distinguishes itself from the Chinese look which the Ursus hoods have these days, while having the distinct Zetor styling feature, namely the headlight unit. I just keep nagging about a wee detail: the black piece between headlights and upper air grid in the hood, should be red because now the headlight unit isnt connected to the lines on the hood, but overall: This looks a winner :D Now if it has the rear axle strength to survive the drawbar loads of tandem trailers in the West, and the price is competitive with regard to the transmission and cab specs, it should become a commercial succes.

Yes, to quote the famous words of Hannibal Smith: "build it !!" ;)

Zetor holds some patents on a DSG transmission solution, and are already experimenting with similar technology in a tractor chassis since 2013:

http://www.iae.fme.vutbr.cz/userfiles/uadi/files/2013_FV_Janousek_Prokop_dvoutok%C3%A1_p%C5%99evodovka.pdf

"functional prototype" means that this is a prototype only to test the technology in real life and to gain experience with it. A production version may be built totally different, so dont draw any premature conclusions from the technical description in the file !!!

Official sources will not confirm nor deny any information, but it is evident that behind closed doors, Zetor is working on a serious comeback in the 120-160hp market.... :)

Hi all new to this, just wondering is there more information and/or photos of this prototype

Here is some other information that was known to the public for more than a year:

http://www.google.com/patents/WO2013167095A1?cl=en

The R&D subsidy runs till 2015. Chances are that the Crystal as photographed, will have a DSG alongside the standard 3 stage powershift, also because the Spanish importer announced a Crystal with "both powershift and semi-automatic transmission"

Off course this is speculative, as official sources do not comment on any of this, but we might get an interesting autumn.... ;)

More photos have appeared, of a new Zetor in even more black plastic disguise. Here it is being tested with a silage trailer in hilly terrain, one of the main tasks people would buy a Zetor six cylinder for, a basic six cylinder for the less complex tasks. (once they are settled in this hp segment, people gain the confidence in the brand to also buy a higher spec tractor from Zetor)

Zetor commented on Facebook by posting a photo of the Czech minister of Agriculture in the cab of the new tractor, saying that the minister was pleased with it and they hope so do you...

The photo does not reveal if they upgraded the ergonomy of the cab compared to the Forterras. The first appearance of the messy interior (hydraulic levers) of the Forterra already puts off a lot of potential buyers, so hopefully they put a tried and tested Proxima interior in it. :)

Lately i read a product evaluation concept that Valtra used with their new T series, the Kano model.

http://image.slidesharecdn.com/kanomodelposter1-141029143056-conversion-gate02/95/kano-model-poster-1-638.jpg?cb=1414593088

No matter how much value you put into a product, lowest TCO, unique selling points, they wont make up for shortcomings in the basic needs. When certain basic needs arent met, a product will never make a customer happy no matter how much added value you put into it. The problem for developers is that certain basic needs are considered to be self-evident by customers and therefor seldomly spoken out when a product manager asks a customer. Like strong rear axles for the Western European coastal countries, where tandem trailers are the standard ;)

The Kano model also explains why there are happy owners of Italian cars, they get away with poor engineering and servicability because they offer a lot of customer excitement (style) to make their customers happy with the product nonetheless.. However thats a whole different market segment than Zetor is serving ;)
