news Zetor Utilix 45 and 55, Hortus 65 on Agritechnica

Zetor will introduce four new models on Agritechnica: the Utilix range of 43 and 49hp (models 45 and 55) will have a hydrostatic gearbox with 3 ranges (if the word hydrostatic is translated correct) which will be very welcome in the USA where they are garden tractors.

For special crops, like treenurseries the Hortus 65 model will be introduced with mechanical transmission or with hydraulic powershuttle.

This means good news for the North American dealers, where entire dealerships live off homeowners and hobby farmers. That no 200hp tractor is represented, means bad news for European dealers, they will have to give up their Zetor franchise and take on another dealership to supply their customers what they need... This will mean that the passibe attitude of dealers importers in Northwestern Europe will not change, and overall sales will continue to drop.

Apparently Zetor does not start building their own 3 cylinder engine yet... as the prototype 50 tractor was equipped with. A 4 cylinder engine, means the naturally aspirated D2.9 engine with only a DOC (a simple variant of the Major engine) in the Utilix 45 and 55 in the emission class below 50hp, and a TD2.9 with turbo but no intercooler in the 50-75hp class with a DPF and DOC in the Hortus 65.

Because these two series operate in two different emission power classes, i think Zetor does wise not developing their own 3 cylinder before 2019 when Tier 5 takes effect. Their effort is better invested in the 200hp range.

There doesn't seem to be any reports anywhere of further development of the pininfarini design....has all that stalled or is it the best kept secret in the trade....on a side note had a Crystal 160 on demo during August....was impressed by its simplicity and raw power but alas the few minor (well discussed design flaws)issues and of course price were stumbling blocks to a purchase

The Major in Pininfarina design was there. The Hortus and Utilix were just rebadged and resprayed TYM tractors.

Proxima and upwards are recently introduced as tier 4 final. It will probably not be till 2019 (tier 5) that these series are due for a major design change.

MF has designated their updated 7600 series the 7600S series. This update is required to comply to new EU machinery directive taking effect January 1st 2018.

Among Machinery directive requirements are bonnet lockable by key, levers and controls marked by colour, blind spot mirrors and more.

So, most likely the Proxima Forterra and Crystal are due for a cab upgrade in early 2018, which is 20 year overdue... This could reinforce their competitiveness against used tractors of the major brands, and eventually pave the road to more profitable high-end tractors... that is, -IF- they can keep their dealers in suspense for any longer...

It says the 50hp three cylinder and 170hp 6 cylinder are in development. Their 4 cylinder is Stage 5 ready so no more big investments in engines to be made anytime soon. The fun part is that they do it with a classic fuel pump that can take any old fuel in 3rd world countries or B20 biodiesel fuel with not enough antibacteria agents in countries where treehuggers make the rules.

They have their hands free for a big ergonomic update on the Forterra/Crystal cab, lucky for them it is the law that pushes it, so they will probably not know why next year their Forterra and Crystal slowly begin to sell ;)

R we finally going to get the perfect(at least mine)zetor tractor,if they make their own none common rail 6cyl (cheaper to run and repair)and drop it into the 150HD,bringing it to 150-170hp in a relatively compact manoverable package with the inforced cab updates the possibility's are endless, once it's priced right all nh,case,Mr etc dealers better watch out cos zetor will be chasing hard after all their old customer's again

I thought they might being going to put the Pininfarina cab onto the Crystal range and put a more hi tec interior i.e. hydraulics as from the HD models in it too.
For all the hype around their flagship tractor to be fairly basic inside is like back to the Crystal of the 90s when the contractors who moved away from Zetor to a more modern tractor.

Most contractors have no use for electrohydraulics, carting silage. But the Forterra/Crystal cab is too outdated and unergonomical, even for a basic spec cab with mechanical spools.

No they needed better brakes than what was on a 12145 at 40k back in the 90s and Zetor left the tractors the same until 10540 came along by which time people had moved on and now its the same

A Contractor beside me had a Crystal 160 on demo last year at silage, I say he would like if it had a HD interior, would fitted in nice beside all his big JD and NH tractors. He said was the nicest Zetor he every drove pity it has a price tag of E 95,000.
