Machinery:
Zetors HSX 140, 2x 8111, 8045. CNH 895, MF50B. Heap of machinery.
Anyone know if it is possible to remove the heat exchanger off the side of the engine on an 8111, without having to open off the side chassis rail first. I have removed one before but that was on an engine that had been removed. I need to change this old one as it's leaking engine oil and I was wondering if it will fit out without having to remove the chassis rail. Taking off the engine oil filter first will give more access to the exchanger studs.

Again, seeing I'm not inundated with replies. I'm going to answer my own question. And the answer is yes, you can remove it, but have to remove the engine oil filter too, to reach into where the 3 bolts are. For some reason the 3 bolts are are two 16mm heads and one 17mm. There is nothing to spare in length getting out the bolts so it's a tight fit.

Thank you for posting the answer, even though you had to figure it out by yourself. It can be useful for others in the future.
Don't know why none answered your question. Maybe there aren't that many with 80xx/81xx experience here on the forum?
I can only speak for myself, and in Norway the old Crystal-series wasn't a popular farming tractor. Mostly sold to entrepreneurs for moving masses and their heavy equipment, and I think there are not so many of them left now.

Just saw this thread, yes it can get it off. Have to be careful that you don't crossthread the bolts when refitting it.

Just saw this thread,

I had the new one on at this stage, when I wrote the answer. I had no problem putting it back on.

That's the gas thing because as long as I'm on here since 2011, I've only ever had a Crystal type tractors in one shape or another. I have never owned a small zetor UR1 type.

... yes, but the UR1 has been sold much more frequently worldwide than the UR2 types over the years, especially after ZTS started producing them. Also, the old Kristall range ends a few years after 1990 and Zetor sells its own basically similar series (in terms of power class) with the Forterra.

I think things would have turned out very differently if the politicians in Czechoslovakia had not given the big Zetors to ZTS Martin or if they had joined forces after the fall of communism. But pride between Czechs and Slovaks is sometimes greater than common sense and so things turned out as they did.

Take a look at my the PDF I made some years ago with the historical production figures:

I would say crystal type tractor was more popular in Ireland than the smaller ones. In my fathers time running the farm we only had 2 UR1, where as we had around 20 UR2 tractors
