I have a forterra 10641 the tm is not working. Oil level on top dip marker. Stuck in lower speed unless ascending steep gradient when it kicks up 2 gears and pto likely disengage! Buttons on gearstick and panel display indicate function ok but tractor wont change up speeds. 2005 age tractor...
Thanks for response, had fitter out today. Took out pto stub and turned it and pushed in hard seemed to give solid drive with 1000 stub then re turned back to 540 and it is cured! There is a gear inside a gear ring and a sprung loaded spigot, something was sticking so it turned out well...
hi, the pto stopped working this am. You put it in gear and stop output shaft with your boot. Can hear gear noise when do this.
(Plenty of oil in b/e clutch engaged etc.) Can turn shaft by handwith some presssure. Whats chance of being easy fix?
I have tubes water ballasted on rear of 8540 never added any anti freeze just filled them off hose pipe. Coastal north devon uk very rarely freezes hard here; odd day of frozen water troughs but never hear tyres crunching. (Tractor used every day of year)
compression ratio 17:1 is the only definate info.
I always believed the 8540 was 85hp tractor! Whatever, in my experience its a good reliable workhorse and it does all I ask it too. Good hydraulics and good puller with ballasted rear tyres.
Can someone please tell me/describe what I need to do to adjust up the power output on this tractor.
I know past threads "describe opening up the governor/ pump" on older tractors removing plate/cover at rear and loosening locknut and turning set screw clockwise. But I'm guessing the injector...
I have bad cold starting on 8540. Changed control box 12 months ago. Had another look today.... I get voltage all the time ignition is on from this control box to the glowplugs. Dashboard light goes out after 20 secs. pre-heat; but voltage too plugs is constant all time engine is running and...
Pre-heats on ignition key for 30 secs. You want a good battery though with plenty of starting amps. If you put hydraulic pump out of gear prior to cranking helps a bit.
The only complaint I have on my 8540 is its cold starting...and thats in England!
Just looked up MPa and 1 is 140 psi. Zetor workshop manual says ....
oil pressure at nominal engine speed and oil at 90 celcius 0.2-0.5 mpa equals 26-70 psi
But min pressure states engine at 700rpm oil temp at 80 celcius min pressure 0.05 mpa which is 7psi at idle.

manual gives 0.2-0.5 MPa with a min.oil pressure of 0.05.at idle.
I interpret that as 3-7 psi but then I'm a farmer and not an engineer! I think you have plenty of oil pressure!
Insurance has agreed too pay....meantime the front grill has again risen in price another 15% during the past month!
Anyone else bought any Zetor parts recently and been shocked?
Thanks for offer but.... still too expensive, the parts are not worth buying at more than 150. I am talking to my insurance company but this part is way over priced. Other parts I have bought have seemed reasonably priced.
Why do Zetor charge so much for this part??
wanted detachable front grill with headlights for 8540. The zetor prices I'm being quoted are unbelievable. Devon UK and I'm being quoted 650 for something that can only be worth 25% of that quoted price.
Thanks for valued advice. I have fitted a new isolator switch, easily accessed by cab step. The original isolator was only accessed by removing front grill panel and as the tractor carries a loader was not easily accessed on a regular basis.

The battery dropped...
About every month or so my 8540 is draining its battery dead overnight. A heavy drain short with no ignition switched on.
I recharged the battery and when I reconnected the negative it sparked a little which indicates the frame is live with no ignition?? Any pointers or analysing checks that can...
I just replaced the master clutch cylinder yesterday on 8540 following Renzes directions. Straight forward from within the cab, except the feed -in union which you do from in front of cab. Had to bleed afterwards.... now I have to do the slave which is not so cheaply priced-20 master 45 for...
