our zetor 11741 is very hard to start on cold mornings, when she does get fired up she is very smoky for about 10 minutes, i tried to take out the heater plugfor testing but dont Know how, it is ontop of the inlet manifold at the front of the engine with two wires going to it and thats it, no fuel pipe or nothing, it is a six cylinder engine has anyonne any ideas of getting them out????? there seems to be two bolts go through the manifold where the terminals connect onto

any replies will be great
cheers

John are you using the correct procedure for starting your Same engined 11741?
Information to reduce the smoke on cold starts on the Same 1000.6WT Tier II engined 11741
After carrying out the usual pre-start checks:-
1 Turn ignition switch on
2 Glow plug light flashes, press rocker switch to start the automatic pre-heating.
3 Press down & hold foot throttle to give approx 1000 erpm if the engine was running
4 When glow plug light goes out immediately start engine (try not to exceed 1000 erpm)
5 As soon as the alternator starts to charge (Battery light out & rev counter working) release foot throttle slowly & allow engine to idle
6 Glow plug light should flash slowly indicating secondary pre-heating allow engine to idle for a short time, giving the heater chance to warm the induction air. The secondary pre-heating can go on for up to 7 minutes, It can be stopped by pressing the rocker switch.
7 Drive away as normal

cheers alzet

i did not realize about the secondray preheating i was just pressing the rocker switch as soon as the engine got fired up the same as normal glow plugs :sneaky:
hopefully she will be less smoky :)
and how does the engine let you no when its finished this secondray preheating ???

White smoke is a common issue with TIER 2 SLH engines. Sammy didnt want to spend any further development resources in it and bought themself a share of Deutz AG (while fully owning Deutz agrar)
