Is it possible to convert the constant mesh 8/16 box to 40k in a 1988 12111 it's been converted to 4wd when I changed the gearbox out, also looking at fitting a 16045 engine to it. Any advice would be appreciated

Its possible but nmaybe not worth it. It involves changeing the layshaft gears (one gear might be hobbed on the layshaft itself so that involves a full shaft) and then putting a new set of 4th speed gears in it. You better find a used 40k box, less work.
