Only major leak I have left to fix is the power steering cylinder that is located on the right hand side of the tractor behind the axle.

I picked up new seal kit from the dealer and I'm about to do the change. I noticed the piston rod is slightly bent with a couple small dents - don't think its enough to bother anything major.
(I have log splitter cylinder that has more rust and dents on the piston than a Zetor cab and it works great)

Any wisdom of what to watch out for or tricks of the trade in changing out the seal kit ?

The leak is through the front dust shield by the way. I already fixed the hydraulic connection hose leaks with new copper washers.

For reference, I checked the price of a new cylinder and was quoted $1,100 CDN. Thats about $825 US (WHAT A RIP OFF!)

Seal kit was real cheap next to this. Appeciate any expert advice you could give and what to watch for.

I have the same kit sitting in my toolbox waiting for my 6245.

Did you do your repair? was it OK and should I watch out for anything?

I ended up having to have a machine shop do the work.

A) there are two sets of seals depending on what zetor put in.
One is a 3/4 inch wide set other is 1.5 inch wide.

B) In my case the piston rod was bent and would jam pretty tight
when turned all the way in - thus really hard on the seals.

C) inside, the piston seated okay, the cylinder was still round
and smooth, but the moving mechanism the piston rod fitted
into was really worn and believe it or not corroded and rusted.
(Looked like a typical zetor cab - rusted)

D) some seals were worn and even looked like they had been eaten away with a corrosive acid. Perhaps the effect of the previous owner mixing grades of oils.

The machine shop turned a new inner shaft mehanism, put in new seals, made a new piton rod, and rewelded the original connection bracked that attaches to axle.

They did a great job - no more leaks!!

Cost me $200. Sure beats the $400 for the piston rod
alone that zetor wanted. I still would have been no better off
had I bought the piston rod anyway as the inside mechanism that
connects the piston and travels inside the cylinder was damaged.

I am no professional but I was sure glad I went to the
machine shop! Saved time, money and FRUSTRATION.

Good luck!
