3:d gear stuck!??!

Ok now I'm really upset...
I've got a -73 Zetor 5718 and yesterday while driving the
no 3 gear got stuck. I can't shift to any other gear.
I can move the stick into gear 1 position and reverse but then
the motor stalls when a let the up clutch, (like I had my foot on the breaks..). Putting the stick in neutral the no 3 gear is in
and the traktor runs fine. Is my gearbox broken, or is this another
kink that can be fixed? Hi - Low gear works fine.

That's easy to solve with a 17 (??) mm wrench and a screwdriver:

There is a row of 5 bolts on top of the gearbox, one bolt, a space, 3 bolts, a space and another bolt, like o ooo o

put the gear lever in the position of 1 and reverse (or 4 and 5, whatever works) and turn the middle bolt out. you will see that the bolt has a spring loaded ball on the lower end: this causes the click you hear/feel when putting it into gear.

then take a screwdriver to push the shift rod back into the neutral position, reinstall the bolt and there you go again..

If this is an often occuring problem, you might want to take the lid off the gearbox and weld the wear grooves of the liners inbetween the shift levers. Make sure you can grind it smooth in an emergency, otherwise the rods wont fit in the liners...
A little groove is no problem. You can also replace the "finger" underneath the gear lever, that slides in above mentioned shift rods and liners.

Thank you very much for that answer, puuuh...
Only one thing, the bolts on my traktor are like this
o oooo, does that matter?

I did what you suggested...couln't get it to work so
I unscrewed the 4 st bolt, right of the middle one. I pressed the clutch and moved the gearstick. Now the gearstick is stuck
in gear 1 position and the traktor won't move at all.
Please find the time to explain in detail how to fix this...
I would be enourmously thankfull for some help .

You should have unbolted the middle one, left is PTO clicker, right is high/low gear range, one-but-left operates the 4 and 5 speeds, one-but-right operates the 1st and reverse, middle one operates 2 and 3. But never mind, there is another solution, that is easy too, it just requires loosening of 4 bolts instead of 1...;)

If you follow the gear lever back to where it mounts on a boot shaped housing, of about 15x8x12 cm where the gear stick goes into the transmission, you will find 4 bolts M8. take them out and you will be able to see the brackets on the shift rods. Press the clutch pedal down and put them all in neutral. then re-assemble the boot shaped thing, and make sure that the slide block on the lever is in the slot.

When you're down there anyways, you may choose to replace that oval block on the shifting lever too...

All is well in Zetor land...:)
I removed the gear lever (under the streering wheel) and re-align the shift rods, attached the lever again and everything is working fine.
Greatful for you help ...
