3340 clutch issue

Hello, this is my first post. I bought a 98 3340 about two months ago and when i was plowing snow today the clutch stopped working. I am not sure if it might be low on fluid. Where would i find the reservoir for the clutch fluid? thanks

Hi,

If you lift the bonnet it is mounted at the back end of the engine. It's the same reservoir for brakes and clutch. Use dot 4 fluid.

Thank you. I checked it and it seems full enough. When I depress the pedal it goes to the floor and I see little movement of the clutch linkage on the side of the bell housing. Could it be the master cylinder behind the pedal?

Yes it is probably the m cyl. You may get away with bleeding it as a temporary measure.

thanks I checked the master cylinder and it seemed to be pumping fluid with no problems. I went to the slave cylinder and found the o rings were gone in the cylinder. I disassembled, cleaned and i am installing new o rings. I will order a new slave cylinder as a backup.
