A friend of mine has a 3340, for some reason it keeps blowing out the seals on the hydraulic pump I've rebuilt the pump several times and it doesn't last that long and it blow the seals out again. now it seems that its burning the seals out, like the fluid is getting to hot we have changed the fluid and all of the filters but it still doesn't last very long before the seals let go. My friend recently got fed up and has bought a new pump, we haven't installed yet because I'm not sure if it is the pump or something in the system damaging th e pump. any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Lynn

no I haven't. nor do I know how to. I am a diesel/heavy truck mechanic by trade. and I've been trying to help out on this tractor for a friend of mine who is a contractor and they use it for construction and not farming so it probably takes more abuse than it should.

I know from working on heavy truck power steering systems the bypass or pressure relief valve is located in the steering gear. and typically cuts out at 1600 psi roughly. where is it located on this tractor and what should the cutout pressure be?

thanks

are you talking about the power steering, or auxilary (3pt lift) pump ?
