hi i have just got my self a 3545 4wd and the 4wd has stopped working. can any one help please?. also every time i go to put it in gear it grinds something terrible.

You need to provide more information.

Does the 4wd level engage, then when you put it in gear and release the clutch - it grinds?

Does it grind when you try to engage the 4wd lever?

Are you stopped and in neutral, then you try to engage the 4wd lever and it grinds?

More information would help us understand what might be happening.

thx

the 4wd lever engages & it seems to lock the propshaft but the front wheels dont pull. the grinding comes when i try to put it i gear, i push the clutch in & it grinds like hell so i have to lower the engine revs till it nearly stalls then it goes in. but when i put it in neutral & let it tick over the same thing happens, it also does not seem to disengage untill you put the brakes on. thanks for your reply

Check to make sure the 4wd engagement is indeed complete - lever position(4wd engage) is where it should be - if it is not then this will be the source of the misalignment and grinding.

If this is not the issue then there are some more serious issues inside the transmission or clutch housing.

Hi I've had a 3545 for a number of years only had problems when some tried to put it in low range 4wd, not sure about overseas models but only had 4wd in high range here in Australia.

i have a 3545 i cant figger out why it grinds with you:sneaky: engage 4wd before engaging a gear you may have to let it roll a little to line up the gears. maybe you have been using 4wd in low range? not a gd idea as 4wd runs through the high range gears if you use it in low eange it stresses and usually goes bang in the front crownwheel:( i saw a 3545 after it happened. keep us updated

sounds like the spring loaded serlectors are worn they are located just in front of the levers for the pto and low /high the grating you hear when you select neutral is the gear not coming clear and catching another cog ..... as for the 4 wd check the splines on the main drive shaft near the drop box end for wear good luck..
