3545 PTO oil seal

How to replace the PTO seal , does the 4 bolts open the round ring around the PTO and if so does it just come out , any advice will be help full .
Don't have tractor long and sorting it out bit by bit , thanks in advance .

Yes, you can undo the thing with the 4 bolts. then the PTO shaft and bearing stay in place. Park the tractor nosedown in a ditch so you dont have to drain and refill all the oil..

If you do pull the PTO shaft you need to drop the oil pump mounting plate to put the hollow shaft of the oil pump drive back over the PTO shaft.

you dont need to do that renze ive changed many pto seals and the hollow shaft stays in place just stick pto shaft back inside it.

....Not on all models, Jorgen ! The 3011 and 3511 didnt have independent PTO yet, you'd have to put it in 3rd gear to fold the hay tedder without turning the PTO shaft (and thereby breaking the U joints)
With these old ones the shaft does drop to the bottom. with the 5245 indeed you can stick it back in easily.
