Hi All,
this is my first post. I'm in NSW Australia. I'm hoping someone can share their experience/expertise with fixing brake problems on my 5211.
The right hand brake is sticking on (not fully locked on, when moving you can step on the pedal and it will clamp even tighter and provide further braking). The tractor will move easily enough but the brake pad is sticking and heats up (you can smell it, which can't be good).
The left side brake is not working at all - dead pedal. I've discovered a broken part at the bottom of the rear end of the tractor on the left hand side which is at least part of the problem on the left brake (it has a heavy fork protruding from a metal plate into the brake housing from the bottom near the 3PL. Each of the two prongs have been partially sheered and bent and no longer hold the other spring part in place). Any thoughts on what is happening with the left hand brake?
I've begun dismantling the right wheel to get at the brakes. Having the usual trouble removing the brake fluid line as the line is twisting with the nut. Do I just have to accept that I'll break this in order to remove it and replace it later? Once I've got this all apart what am I looking for?
It's a lot of labour getting this all apart, so I would like to fix anything that needs fixing while I'm in there.finally, the band brake works but you have to pull up the lever a long way before it engages - is this easy to adjust?
Any help greatly appreciated!
thanks
