Machinery:
Zetor 5211 with Westendorf loader and BushHog 236 shredder. Due to a broken back, my equipment has been in my tractor shed for too long; however new parts are arriving and physical update help has started.
I bought a well-used 5211 and it hasn't been delivered yet, but was told turning off the ignition switch won't kill the engine. Was told I must lower the loader bucket at a slight forward pitch, then put transmission in one of the higher gears and pop the clutch...thereby stalling the engine. Surely this not normal, could it be a bad ignition switch. Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this.

Nope, it won't stop on the key.
Should stop by closing the hand throttle. If it doesn't, first make sure that throttle linkage, including a small cable pulley under the removable cover under the steering wheel, is well oiled.Don't oil where the lever goes into the dash, that's a friction brake.
Your tractor may have a red stop button on the dash. if it still works, don't use it, it pulls a pin out of the arm on the injector pump and can be difficult to re-set.
If after oiling it you may have to adjust the linkage a bit to let the arm on the injector pump go all the way foreward. There may be a light spring to assist this, from a small hole in the arm going foreward. If there isn't then I suggest you make one up.

Sincere thanks Dave, Still waiting for the tractor to be delivered and anxious to make use of your good information.
