Start tractor with pto lever all the way forward-has lift and no pto like it should but try to go to pto with lift and gears grind and you cannot move the lever to pto with lift position..today did more checking--pulled pto disengage lever then underneath tractor tried to move the L-shaped lever by hand that the cable connects to--I could not move it any more than what the lever is doing...so I guess this means it is not an adjustment thing..sounds like an internal thing to me---whatever is suppose to happen inside is not happening----does this sound like a clutch issue? does it mean splitting the tractor?(which I won't do-I will get rid of it and get something else)...Anything else to check?? Thanks

O.K. apparently nobody has ever had a problem like this-therefore nobody seems to know what to do..I really believe that the pto disengage lever is adjusted right and when pulled it is pushing the flat rod(that connects to the shaft sticking out the side of the bell housing) as far as it can go so can anyone just explain what is suppose to happen inside the clutch housing when the pto disengage lever is pulled up?? Surely there are some real mechanics on this forum, not just a tinkerer like me..Does this sound like a possible clutch issue...d0 I need to dump this thing while it is at least running good?? Wouldn't worry about having to crank with pto engaged except bushhogging is the main thing I need it for and cranking it with it having to turn the bushhog blade nan't be a good thing for the hog or the tractor..Any other thoughts/suggestions are appreciated..Thanks

is your pto clutch plate fingers set right ,
is your pto clutch worn out

Thomas, how would I know if the fingers are set right or if the pto clutch is worn out? Is there some way to check this without splitting the tractor? Thanks

when my 6718 was doing this i spillt it and put in a new pto clutch.
there is a little hatch on clutch side of were the tractor spilits, two small bolts hold it on , ten mil spanner , you can look in there but not sure if you can set fingers on a 6211 from here ,

Thanks Thomas-Mine is actually a 5211 I will check for that little hatch on mine..
