Hi there.I have run zetors for many years and have a 6718 which got in two gears and broke a tooth on first gear I was advised by zetor agent not to bother about it as it was on a low gear and would run no problem. and it did .this was 25 years ago.Now I have had a 6245 do the same thing but on a input gear as it is tapping all the time. I would like to split the box and repair as the tractor is very good and has low hours. I have done jobs like this before but any advice would be gratefully received

input gear... which one ? you mean the layshaft drive gear ?

You might be able to undo the lockbolt and tap it off the keyed shaft with light hammer tapping when both input shafts and PTO gears are removed, but if that doesnt work, you'll have to split at the rear axle too and pull the shafts from the back, you need a special puller for the reduction layshaft, i made my own because the original wasnt available. Quite simple with a few pieces of pipe and a conical lugnut and a threaded rod, to expand the ridge on the pipe into the inner recess of the hollow layshaft.

thanks for your reply. I have not got anywhere near that stage yet as this may have to wait until i have more time but from your comments it seems that i can do this job even if i have to split the gearbox front and back I feel more confident knowing advice is available thanks
