5245 oil blowby

Hello I'm new to this group. I have a 5245 with about 1500 hours
and it runs very well. My problem is a have oil dripping out the
blowby tube. It drips at the rate of one drip every 15 seconds.
There is no smoke and very little blowby but the dripping oil has
me worried. I'm thinking a piston ring problem. Is there something else I should be looking at? Maybe crankcase vent
valve or something similar? Thanks for any help .

how hot does your engine get ? does it get to 110 degrees when working hard ?

Yes it can be a piston ring problem. Cheapest solution is to hang a 15 ton trailer behind it and make it roar for several hours, taking the max from the engine. that will re-seat the rings. at least, that worked for our 5245...

Renze, the temp is normal. I do give it a good hard workout
when I use my Valby 3pt chipper. A larger piece of wood
brings it down and makes it grunt. What I have noticed is
when transporting on the road in high gear it has no power
going up hills or towing at all. I assumed because I have a
cab, grill weights, loaded tires and a large Allied loader that
it's just too much for the 3 cyl. Would this give you any other
ideas and is it related to the oil coming out the blowby tube?

Yes it can be a piston ring problem. The standard piston ring used in the 5245 and 7245, was replaced halfway the series. Probably the new type of rings will prove better.
