hi all. my 6211 seems to be going down on water in the rad when I work it hard goes below the little holes in side the rad shes not over heating and the engine oil seems fine its a real pain having to top up on water every time I start it
Worst case scenario would be a leaking cylinder liner seal or seals (O-rings) but if you say the engine oil is not creamy coloured then they should be ok.Check for leaks from the radiator, coolant hoses, cab heater (if fitted),water pump etc etc.If all seems ok then as Renze says it must be a cylinder head gasket failure.
have looked all over this evening an see no leaks new water pump fitted last spring as it was leaking , so I reckon head off is my next step . is there anything to watch out for while taking head off as I never had the head off a zetor but have replaced head gaskets on other makes such as neighbours ford 2600.
Each cylinder has its own seperate head. You will need to remove the exhaust and air inlet manifolds and the coolant pipe and fuel injector pipes before a head can be removed.I dont think you will find it too difficult to work on.I did some work on my brothers 6911 last year (new liners, pistons, cylinder heads, injectors etc etc) and it was all relatively easy to do.I brought an old 4WD 3545 a few weeks ago and i am just going through the engine now as it needs some work doing.
